Personnel Today Awards 2019

We are pleased to announce that our Graduate Scheme has been shortlisted for ‘Graduate Scheme of the Year’ at the Personnel Today Awards. The Graduate Scheme of the Year award recognises employers that optimise their graduate recruitment programmes to help nurture the best talent in the most innovative and effective way.

Since 2014, the business has run a Graduate and Training Engineering Solutions (GATES) scheme every year. Its success has enabled another 12 graduates to join the scheme last year, bringing the total to 37, with graduate engineers across the business advising, leading and contributing internally and externally on a variety of projects. Our four-year GATES scheme has proven to be an excellent tool and forum for learning and development within the business for graduates looking to start their careers.

The aim of the programme is to provide a full and thorough grounding within building services, as well as providing graduates with the necessary knowledge of other divisions within the Group. The programme provides a strong career foundation by using a step-by-step approach to each relevant area of learning over a four-year period. This allows our graduates to take into account any experience they have gained within the industry/college/university or on any industrial placements during their study. The programme is self-owned, but each graduate is assigned a mentor. However, it’s the graduate’s responsibility to ensure they meet each standard set out in the engineering UK Specification; as outlined by the Engineering Council. HR and a technical scheme mentor meet with each graduate every quarter to assess their competence and discuss an overview of their progress in that last period.

The Personnel Today Awards celebrate the ‘Best in HR’ so we are in good company in the shortlist and wish all nominees the best of luck! The 2019 Personnel Today Awards will be held on the evening of 19 November in the Great Room at Grosvenor House, we look forward to meeting all of the other nominees.
