Opening the GATES for the next generation of Engineers

Here at Hurley Palmer Flatt we offer the opportunity for structured development, mentorship and training through our Graduates and Training Engineering Solutions Scheme. Our award-winning scheme allows individuals to develop their own career path, ensuring they gain an experience that offers value whilst being supported by a mentor.

In the UK there has been an extensive investment for on-going learning, training and development. This year the government have been promoting an engineering-based campaign (Year of Engineering), which celebrates all aspects of engineering. Our GATES scheme is an integral element in our company, which contributes towards the government’s commitment to help increase awareness of careers in engineering across the UK ensuring everyone has the skills needed to thrive in a modern economy.

As a growing company we are transforming along with the digital era of engineering, by pioneering our graduate scheme. Our bespoke scheme incorporates innovative training that allows our graduates to better understand their projects and working with clients. Our GATES programme has been running for over four years, with a total of 30 graduates on the scheme.  We successfully deliver a learning and development path. The graduates receive the chance to work with internal and external design teams, being innovative, and analytical, whilst increasing their skill set.

We continually improve the opportunity for our new engineers through our extensive training programmes. Graduates have been recognised by key awarding bodies for their achievements and potential through working here at Hurley Palmer Flatt from our GATES Scheme. To structure their training, all graduates are assessed every quarter to ensure that they gain the necessary competencies to work towards Chartership and Professional registration. The aim for our graduates is to become chartered within five years. Our vision is to add value beyond engineering and we encourage support by providing opportunities for our graduates.
