HPF have been shortlisted for: CIBSE EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR 2017

Hurley Palmer Flatt are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the CIBSE Employer of the year 2017 award. We have been selected to join a shortlist of six companies, from which the small, medium and large category prizes will be awarded and an overall Employer of the Year winner will be crowned. Hurley Palmer Flatt hope that we have demonstrated to the judges that we are truly committed to nurturing and growing the engineers of the future.

The final takes place on the 12th October 2017 at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1 Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London SW1H 9JJ. We wish the team every success in the following stages.

During 2016 and going into 2017, there has been a huge investment for on-going learning, training and development; this includes our bespoke and innovative internal development schemes. For several years, the business has run a Graduate and Training Engineering Solutions (GATES) scheme every year; and due to its success, we took on another four graduates last year, bringing the total to twenty. The aim of the programme is to provide a full and thorough grounding within building services, as well as providing in-depth knowledge of the other divisions within the company. The programme is self-owned and a mentor is assigned to provide guidance and support, however it’s the graduate responsibility to ensure that they reach each of the standards set out in the engineering UK Specification; as outlined by the Engineering Council.

Our Chairman, Paul Flatt shares his views on the scheme.

‘Our graduate training programme has been designed so that we attract and retain the very best young engineers that are available, and therefore provide them with training and opportunities for personal and professional growth that they will not find elsewhere. At Hurley Palmer Flatt, we have been lucky enough to have some of the best and brightest engineers of the current day to join the business, and we expect our graduates to become our future and seek out talent, excellence and commitment which defines tomorrow’s leadership.’

CIBSE Nominee for EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR 2017- Ryan Rodrigues

Furthermore, it is also worth noting that the business is lucky enough to currently have Ryan Rodrigues working for us within our London office, Ryan has been with the business since 2010 and won the CIBSE Graduate of the Year Award for 2016. This accolade was an outstanding achievement for Ryan. He has shown the highest level of professionalism and conduct while representing the business.

In summary,we are immensely proud of our staff for everything they have achieved in 2016 and so far in 2017. Our internal code of practise for training and development remains – the employer of choice!
