Junior ICT Designer –  London

JOB HOLDER’S PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

Design and supervise projects designated by your Group Leader. Carry out detailed design and calculations in accordance with industry and manufacturer’s global standards as required. Assist and prepare specifications, reports and drawings to the design programme.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Agree design duties with your Group.
  • Assist in carrying out detailed design, production of tender documents, site snagging and witness.
  • Assist in carrying out structured cabling specifications, including LAN IP integration (VoIP, CCTV, door access, BMS, Intercoms, home automation).
  • Where required, assist in carrying out LAN designs on central integrated network building services design (BMS, Security, home automation, metering, and energy and lift management).
  • Assist carrying out planning designs on main, secondary and telecommunications equipment rooms.
  • Assist with telecommunication carrier utility diversion and incoming services coordination.
  • Where required, assist with Satellite/TV/DAB planning and coordination for satellite farms, head-end kit and riser distribution.
  • Liaise with the design team to co-ordinate detailed designs and agree manufacturers and samples.
  • Maintain good client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements. Help develop working practices in the Company.
  • Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
  • Implement requirements for ISO9001 and ISO14001.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Basic experience, especially in designing and assisting on projects, ideally 2 years industry experience.
  • Able to undertake computer modelling, organise and direct the production of CAD drawings and correspond effectively with opposite numbers with other consultants desired but not essential( Training will be given to suitable candidate)
  • Experience in the same or similar position is desired.
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
  • The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired, but not essential.
  • Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients.
  • To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively.
  • Skills in server, VoIP and Wireless, desktop specifications desirable but not essential.
  • Skills in 4G cellular equipment room space planning and coordination of multiple operator installation requirements desirable but not essential.
  • Some experience in international structured cabling and LAN design is desired but not essential.

Senior Structural Engineer –  Purley

Job Holders Primary Objectives

Design and supervise projects designated by your Group Leader. Carry out detailed design and calculations in accordance with either British Standards or Eurocode as directed. Assist and prepare designs, specifications, reports and drawings to the design programme. Oversee and direct both CAD and junior engineers as required. Attend meetings and attend site to review/monitor works and to undertake surveys as required to progress the projects.

General Responsibilities

  •  Designing, managing and supervising projects, establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans and agree deliverables, i.e. report, specifications and drawings scope for all projects with your Group Leader
  • Agree level of service, and project design duties with your Group Leader, for each project, understanding the relationship with the fee
  • Assist Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirement for each project within your control
  • Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender and contract on site supervision, to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved
  • Liaise with the design team to produce co-ordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contribution to design/project meetings. Maintain regular ‘in house’ design reviews and checks
  • Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets where applicable
  • Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business
  • Undertake structural survey works and produce reports for the same
  • Pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients
  • When acting as design team leader, co-ordinate with other project disciplines where required
  • Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations
  • Implement and assist in managing QA systems and procedures on all projects
  • Assist with Project Archiving at end of a Project Completion
  • Accurately complete timesheets, assist with invoices and other reporting requirements and submit in accordance with reporting formats and deadlines
  • Maintain personal CPD and personal development plans
  • Continuous adoption of all Civil and Structural engineering rules and regulations, endeavouring to ensure protection of the Companies reputation and Professional Indemnity at all times

 

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Extensive experience, especially in designing and managing projects, ideally 5 years’ industry experience
  • Experience of monitoring contract staff or third party appointments would be desirable
  • Able to undertake computer modelling organise and direct the production of CAD drawings and correspond effectively with opposite numbers with other consultants
  • Skills in project managing on-going jobs with limited supervision are desirable
  • Experience in the same or similar position is desired
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired
  • Chartered Status in chosen discipline preferred, or ongoing pursuit of Chartered status and business qualifications where applicable
  • Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software
  • Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude with resource management experience
  • Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients
  • To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively

Immediate Start

Working hours are Monday – Friday – 37.5 hours per week.
