Engineer
I am involved in five projects at the moment, four of which are at construction phase and one of which is just at outline design stage. Seeing a design develop from the drawing board to installation and then dealing with and solving some of the questions which arise along the way is extremely satisfying. And it is good fun.
Of the four projects that are currently on site, London Zoo Gorilla Kingdom and a private bank in Mayfair are the most interesting and represent the range of sectors that I am involved in.
The Gorilla Kingdom is a unique project and as such raises some very unusual design and construction issues. I never imagined that I would visit a zoo as part of my job role or have to consider the constraints that gorillas place on building services design. Working with the team to create solutions has been very rewarding.
A private bank environment involves a completely different set of clientele and operates at a much faster pace. The project I am involved with is an extremely high profile project and I have had the opportunity to work closely both with the client and the contractor.
There is no such thing as a typical day at hurleypalmerflatt. I am constantly challenged to develop new and innovative solutions. I look forward to the future and an ever-evolving role.
