Stockley Park sets green standards for new data centres

IEE/IET AwardStockley Park Consortium has been granted planning for a new data centre at Stockley Park, Hillingdon. It is the first significant development of this type to address the Mayor's London Energy Plan and followed extensive discussions with the GLA to benchmark it as an examplar of sustainable development in London.

Paul Flatt, Group Managing Director of hurleypalmerflatt, said: "The challenge was to ensure optimum resilience for mission ritical business needs while minimising energy usage.

"We worked closely with the GLA in responding to the London Plan whilst following the Mayors energy hierarchy. We have delivered a facility that combines energy efficiency with that of a 2MW gas fired combined power and cooling plant to serve a proportion of the power and chilled water needs for the site. This solution seeks to deliver one of the greenest new build data centres in Europe and will set the standards that most Corporate Institutions will aspire to achieve," he added.
