hurleypalmerflatt keeps Gorillas warm in London Zoo

Gorilla Enclosurehurleypalmerflatt has just completed installation of a warm air heating system for the internal spaces in London Zoo's Gorilla Kingdom. The work was designed to encourage the Gorillas to behave as they would in their natural habitat. Other zoos have used underfloor heating which encourages the gorillas to spend their days lying on a heated concrete slab.

In contrast, hurleypalmerflatt designed an energy efficient variable air volume system which reacts to temperature demand within the space. The central boiler plant is of condensing type with modulating pre-mix burners which are 98% efficient. The buildings are in use 24 hours a day 7 days a week so warm up times are non existent and there is minimal oversizing of the system.
